PCM - Poliambulatorio Chirurgico Modenese

The Poliambulatorio Chirurgico Modenese, founded in 1995, is among the first private medical centres to perform surgery procedures on a Day Surgery regime, and, currently, is one of Italy’s most important private Day Surgery Centres able to offer a service in 14 different specialities (diagnostic, outpatient and surgical).

Versatile and innovative technological equipment for a team composed of high qualified and very competent physicians and operators. As to the ophthalmological field, the PCM is one of the few Italian centres that has two different state-of-the-art excimer lasers, a spot laser (VISX S4) and a scanner laser (NIDEK EC5000) as well as a Femtolaser Intralase. Thanks to the wide range of appliance, the PCM is able to offer the most innovative surgical techniques for the correction of myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism. Among them, the latest TLCT (Two Laser Combined Technique) that uses two different lasers during the same operating session with an successful result never seen before today.

Nowadays, more than half of surgical operations (under general anaesthesia too) can be performed on a Day Surgery regime, upon an accurate selection of the patient and the adoption of rigorous procedures. The patient can be discharged after a few minutes or a few hours, depending on the type of anaesthesia and procedure; in any case not later than 07.00 p.m. since the after-surgery hospitalization is in the daytime only. This is possible thanks to the up-to-date techniques and surgical technologies, which not only shorten the length of the operations but make them less invasive and foster a speedy recovery (1).
  • THE OUTPATIENT ACTIVITY as to the specialist services and the diagnostic-instrumental examinations is performed in 14 outpatients’ departments.
  • THE SURGICAL ACTIVITY done on an outpatient basis and daytime hospitalization is performed in 2 operating theatres and in 1 surgical department (laser only). The Centre has six inpatient beds.

(1) In the exceptional event that the patient can not be discharged within the day of admission (0,1 - 0,2% of all admissions of the centre-one of the best result at national level), the facility wil, in any case, guarantee the best treatment and care to the patient even in the night-time and a bed (whose payment is completely at the PCM’s expenses) by the Nuovo Ospedale S. Agostino - Estense of Baggiovara.
